One of the few things that have really stunned me was the Gubbio Studiolo room in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Every time I visited New York, I felt obliged to have another look. It never tired.Just incredible.
I will not repeat many pictures here, look at the museum website for more details. Its walls are carried out in a wood-inlay technique known as intarsia. The latticework doors of the cabinets, shown open or partly closed, indicate the contemporary interest in linear perspective. The cabinets display objects reflecting a wide range of artistic and scientific interests. This room was executed by Giuliano da Majano (1432–1490).
